SIX STEPS TO CHRISTIAN FAITH

by Red Marble Ministries

If you are a Christian you have a responsibility to witness to others about your faith. Perhaps, as you read this statement, you are saying to yourself,  "I'm not good enough to do that", or "I don't know enough", or  "I'm afraid" . But there are several simple steps which, if followed, will help you to share the secret of your inner job and thus make you an eager witness for Christ.

1. Start Where You Are

Don't waste time with remorse because of past failures. If you have been genuinely repentant, God has forgiven your sins. He has made possible a new kind of life. The past may have left its regrets because of wasted days, but the burden of guilt is wiped out. Knowing Christ has made you a new person with a new life to live. Nor should you spend time in idle dreaming as to how pleasant it would be to possess all the virtues of a saint. Everyone has moments when he wishes he no longer faced the temptation to be selfish, or to hate, or to be dishonest. The pull of evil, however it changes in nature and appeal, will always be with you. Remember that Christ is with you and press on. The time to be a Christian is now. Start where you are.

2. Renew Your Christian Experience

You look back to the moment when Christ became your Savior and Lord. It may have been the hour when you stood at the alter of your church to profess your faith. It may have occurred in a special meeting. Or it may have come during a conversation with someone who called at your home. It is not enough, however, to know Christ on a single occasion. We are privileged to meet Him again and again. It is natural that we should cherish the memory of the moment when we first knew what it meant to make a commitment, and it is not strange that we should tell others about it. But the Holy Spirit is the living presence of God available at every moment to those who will welcome Him. Your first experience of Christ, therefore, can be renewed and deepened if you are constantly receptive to the working of God's spirit.

3. Grow in Knowledge

Spiritual power develops with knowledge. Many of us were children when we first professed faith in Christ and entered the fellowship of the Church. Most of  the rest of us were like children in our meager understanding of the faith. We must grow in knowledge. It is important to accept the privilege of fellowship in a class or group, for we learn more about spiritual things when we are in the company of other Christians sharing the privilege of worship or teaching than we do alone. Understanding comes also from the Bible. It is God's Book. Within its pages are timeless stories of the quest for God and salvation. Its chapters will broaden your understanding of Christ and the work of the Holy Spirit. Your faith will deepen as you read the Holy Scriptures. So prayer is a broad way to knowledge. Through prayer you will gain increasing appreciation of the endless works of God. As you talk to the Heavenly Father and listen for His voice, you will leave far behind you the childish ideas about God which once seemed satisfying. No longer will you think of God as a servant to care for your every whim, but rather you will see Him as the loving Father whose concern for you made possible the Incarnation, the Crucifixion, and the Resurrection.

4. Overcome Weakness

Self-Examination is important to spiritual growth. Ask yourself these questions: "Am I honest? Am I kind? Am I unselfish? Am I pure? Do I love myself more than I love Christ?" The flaws in your character will be apparent. Often they will seem so numerous that you will feel helpless. That is the time to ask God's help in overcoming them. At first you will need to take each day separately. Be honest today. Be pure today. Be kind today. Live for Christ today. Before you go to bed each night, ask God to forgive your failures and determine to do better tomorrow.

5. Broaden Your Dedication

Too often, as we begin the Christian life, we have fixed ideas about our responsibilities. We attend church services. We give our money. We use our talents as teachers, as choir members, as ushers, or as leaders in some phase of the churches program . That is good and right. That is what we should do. But as we grow in the Christian faith we come to the place where we recognize that all of our life belongs to God. What we do in our daily work is important. How we treat our family is significant. The problems of the world become our concern because God is concerned. We realize that we can not solve all of the problems of our church or of our community or of our world, but increasingly we can understand that we can help God to solve them through our dedication to him. Broaden your dedication to Christ until every deed and every influence of your life becomes a witness for that which is holy.

6. Be Aware of Others

You will develop in the Christian life as you become increasingly aware of the needs of those around you. See every individual as a person.  Then remember that people are God's children, that Christ came to save each and every one. When you meet a stranger, or hold a conversation with a friend, a neighbor, or a co-worker, pay attention and be interested in him. Is he unhappy? Does he attend church? Does he need Christ? Your own faith will be stronger when you think constantly of the needs of the people around you and as you share Christ with them.

"IN THE BEGINNING..."
(OF THIS MINISTRY)

The Red Marble ministry was brought to my attention in the summer of 1999 in the oilfield near Lovington, New Mexico. I was supervising an operation when a co-worker approached me with a Red Marble and very crudely gave it to me and said, "Here, this represents the blood of Jesus".  I received the marble and God began to explode in my mind all the possibilities that could be put to use with the simple message of the Red Marble. Wouldn't it be just like God to take something as simple as a small Red Marble to minister to a multitude of people. This is what God has shown me about the Red Marble:

  1. Its form is round - representing a never-ending circle with a reflection to the never-ending love of Jesus.

  2. It is made of glass - very hard - representing what Jesus said of Peter "upon this rock I will build my church". Sand is heated to 2200º and the marble is formed by fire and heat which removes impurities. Just as the blood of Jesus purges sin.

  3. Color of red - representing the shed blood of Jesus, without such there is no remission of sin.

  4. Blessed - Jesus told me to pray over each one, seeking his anointing for each one just as Paul the Apostle gave aprons and handkerchiefs to be placed on the sick and unsaved. We can give these at hospitals or as a token of friendship and to be used as a ministering tool.

  5. Simplicity - These Red Marbles are easy to carry in your change pocket or in a change purse. You will be totally surprised to discover all the opportunities it will give you to witness to others.

We have many wondrous stories to tell of how God has blessed people through a simple act of giving a Red Marble to a friend, loved on, or even a total stranger. I challenge you to join us in our Red Marble Ministry.

PRAYER OF SALVATION

If you don't know the Lord Jesus but would like to, please pray this prayer:

Lord Jesus, I am a sinner. I now ask you to forgive me of my sins. I know you are the son of God, that you have been raised from the dead by God the Father and that by your shed blood I have forgiveness of sin. I ask you to come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior. I believe that you have forgiven me of my sins. I ask you now to lead me in the paths of righteousness and guide my footsteps each day.

If you prayed this prayer today, please write me and I will send you some information to help you with your new walk with the Lord. You need to make a public profession of your new founded faith. For information on tracks please contact us through the mail:
